RT-1248 and it's Dynamotor
The RT-1248 is a 435 to 500 MHz, 20 watt, FM transceiver of WWII vintage. I obtained this particular radio and dynamotor from a surplus outlet here in Fort Worth in about 1976. It's life on the surplus market began at Buffalo Radio Supply and was touted as "the most versatile radio surplus item ever offered to amateurs, experimenters, automobile drivers, etc." I don't know how it ended up in Fort Worth but there were originally two sets of these radios. I received one and my cousins got the other. I don't know the status of their radio.
Though I originally had plans to modify this gear for amateur use, I refrained from doing so and kept it in its original factory condition. The document below is the original conversion manual from Buffalo Radio Supply. It contains the original schematic as well as schematics for various uses of this rig. Beware the this pdf file is BIG, over 5 MB. I had to scan it at a high resolution to be able to read the tiny schematics.
